Lone Workers Policy

This policy is written for those employees working alone.

Check Calls

All security officers working alone are required to make check calls to the control centre at times designated by the operations management team. These check calls are hourly between the times of 19:00hrs – 07:00hrs Monday to Sunday nights and on Saturday and Sunday days between 07:00hrs – 19:00hrs

Failure to make the required check call will result in emergency services being informed and a supervisor being dispatched to investigate the reasons why a call was not received.

Should you for any reason be unable to make your call then the control room must be informed in advance and check calls re-established as soon as possible.

Supervisors Visits

From time to time supervisory visits are conducted unannounced these are not only to ensure that job functions are being carried out in accordance with client wishes but to ensure that health and welfare issues are conducted in a uniform manner.

Assignment Instructions

Each location where you will be required to work will have had a formal set of assignment instructions compiled, it is of great importance that each security officer ensures that they read this document on arriving at the site so that they are aware of the duties expected of them.

This document will also identify those locations where the security officer is allowed to go and where for health and safety reasons he is not.

Specific risk assessments will be conducted for each area of work that may affect the security officer and copies of the risk assessments will be included within the site assignment instructions.

They may include such areas as:

  1. Manual Handling
  2. Personal Protective Equipment
  3. Display Screen Equipment and Workstation
  4. Noise
  5. COSHH
